Jon has over 20 years of experience as a coach, swimmer,
and triathlete. He is a former collegiate swimmer and professional
triathlete. Jon’s race experience and extensive knowledge in
Exercise Physiology and Sports Performance makes him a great fit for
athletes looking to take their performance to the next level.
Pauole Sport is excited to welcome him to the coaching staff.
Training and Knowledge
Jon has a B.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. He also holds a Masters Degree in Kinesiology specializing in Exercise Physiology from the University of Northern Colorado. Jon has worked as a coach with beginner level swimmers to collegiate level athletes. He worked on the coaching staff for the University of Anchorage, Alaska and Seattle University Swim Teams.
Personal Experience
Jon started his athletic career as an age-group competitive swimmer. He was awarded a full athletic scholarship to University of Anchorage, Alaska and earned 14 All American Statuses in his years at the University. Jon also qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100 butterfly and won the University of Alaska’s most elite athletic award of Athlete of the Year during his senior year. He was later inducted into the University of Anchorage, Alaska Hall of Fame in 2002.
He began competing in triathlons when he moved to Seattle and found the Ironman distance especially challenging and rewarding. Jon is an 11 time Ironman finisher with a personal best of 9:27:28 at Ironman California in 2001. He competed at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii 4 times and posted a personal best in Kona of 9:56:34. Jon has also enjoyed success as a short course triathlete where he won the USAT Age Group Nationals in 2002 and was ranked #1 in the Northwest as the Best All Around Triathlete. Jon earned his pro license and competed in the Short Course ITU Circuit as a professional triathlete.
